Hannah first met Albert at a friends gathering in San Francisco. She was local to the area, and Albert was visiting for a few days from Boston. Niceties were exchanged, but Albert had to return to Boston soon thereafter.

Half a year later, Albert got wind of Hannah’s plans for visiting Boston on a business trip through a mutual friend. Albert took a chance and reached out to her to grab oysters at a hole-in-the-wall in Cambridge. Being the hotelier that she is, Hannah agreed, on the condition of an aperitif before dinner. He googled the word and, to his delight, learned that it meant drinks. They enjoyed cocktails followed by dinner, and Albert took her on a walk along the streets of West End, Hannah’s former home of two years.

They talked about F1, hotel management, medicine, and their shared Korean-American experiences. The rest is history, and sweeping Hannah off her feet with their first date remains Albert’s proudest achievement to this day.
